Crane (industrial overhead/pendent)
Developed to help ensure pendent crane operators who work with lifting devices and sling their own loads will meet the requirements of a "Competent Person". Participants will learn to deal with the associated hazards of operating cranes and rigging loads.
Our program consists of theoretical and practical components to help ensure competency.
Participants will learn theory including...
- Requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Industrial Regulations
- Pre-use/shift inspection of slings, lifting points and pendent crane
- Load limits and capacity of crane and lifting components
- Safe distances
- Standard hand signals
- Standard safe practices
- Use of chains, slings, spreader bars, grabbers, and other attachments
- Inspection of harness and equipment
- Donning of a harness with each participant
Participants will learn practical including...
- Inspecting the crane, slings, fittings and attachments
- Estimate load weights
- Practice proper rigging and lifting procedures
- Rig and lift loads
