Standard First Aid Program Outline
- Legal Responsibilities (understanding consent, applied consent, abandonment)
- Safeguarding Your Health; Universal Precautions; Communicable Diseases
- Personal Protective Equipment; Glove Removal; Decontamination Protocols
- Scene Survey; Primary Survey; Secondary Survey; Ongoing Casualty Care
Standard First Aid Core Content - signs, symptoms & treatment for:
- Emergency Scene Management (ESM)
- Shock, Unconsciousness, Fainting
- Choking (partial and complete airway obstruction adult, special circumstances)
- Severe Bleeding (internal & external) - dressings, bandaging
- Cardiovascular Emergencies
- One and Two Rescuer CPR
- Introduction to AED's
Standard First Aid Elective Modules (signs, symptoms and treatment)
- Child and Infant Emergencies
- Head and Spinal Injuries
- Joint - bone & muscle Injuries
- Chest, Pelvic and Abdominal Injuries
- Eye Injuries
- Burn Injuries
- Poisoning - treatment and prevention
- Medical Conditions - diabetes, seizures, convulsions
- Allergic Reactions (anaphylactic shock)
- Heat Related Illnesses
- Cold Related Illnesses
- Multiple Injury Management & Rescue Carries
- Artificial Respiration (Rescue Breathing)
Upon Completion of the Program
